Trevi: watering down storage hotspots with cool fountain codes / Nov 2013

Paper on fountain coding for datacenter networking at HotNets 2013. The Trevi work explored using fountain codes to address storage hotspots in datacenter networks. By applying erasure coding techniques from reliable multicast to the datacenter context, we investigated how to "water down" hotspots and improve load distribution across storage systems. The paper demonstrates how techniques from one domain (networking) can be creatively applied to solve problems in another (distributed storage), providing new approaches to datacenter resource management.
