Using smart phones to access site-specific services / Jan 2005

New article out on using cameraphones to access site-specific services in IEEE Pervasive Computing. This work with Eleanor Toye Scott, Richard Sharp, and Dave Scott explored how smartphones could enhance location-based services like ticket machines and information kiosks while reducing deployment costs. We developed the Mobile Service Toolkit, a complete client-server framework that lets site-specific services automatically tailor their behavior using personal information stored on users' phones. The paper presents case studies demonstrating how this approach could transform the way people interact with services in physical spaces.
