Integrated Internet/Telephone Conferencing
Giving PCs access to the sound streams from telephones offers the
opportunity for the PC to augment human-to-human telephone conversations
with inline audio packets. These data packets can be used to agree on
a common Internet server for high-bandwidth communications, or simply
to transmit short information such as URLs which are often awkward and
error-prone to read over the phone.
To demonstrate this, the audio conferencing application below enhances telephone conferences by indicating the current participants of the call, and the recent history of who is speaking.
