This Hui Lau Shan mango pudding was worth the 12 hour stopover in Hong Kong. I had three, talk about pigging out!
These circular wooden things in the roof are incense tubes, constantly burning
Walking up Victoria Peak to check out the view, unfortunately a misty day
Im all excited on arriving at Hong Kong! The airport is kinda boring though... The first thing I see is a very large building Hang on, there are loads of buildings, and they're all massive! Luckily its occasionally favoured with a tiny but nice park Cool building-on-building reflection We found these weights suspicously lying under a building ... holding these flying window cleaners up! Walking up Victoria Peak to check out the view, unfortunately a misty day And another source of the very strong smelling incense A new building (left) beside a really old one (right)... the moisture really wrecks the outside fast Traffic does get hectic in the narrow streets But the MTR subway is really superbly organised and automated The posh Peninsula hotel, in classic colonial style It made me giggle, ok? Colin, wazzzzup! We cook our own meal! Hong Kong is land of the exotic desserts The famous (I'm informed) 5 flags As we wander around, we notice a random crowd gathered Are they looking at this? No! Right below it is a random dance troup performing to 50 cent rapping from a hifi (almost as wierd as Japan) A very popular affair indeed... We decide to check out the IMAX show With only one small hitch ... I love buildings! Cant you tell? A wierd submarine themed restaurant in a mall Arrr me hearties, I do believe its another ship theme This Hui Lau Shan mango pudding was worth the 12 hour stopover in Hong Kong. I had three, talk about pigging out! A nice path reminiscent of the walk up in Tirupathi Another view of the city And again! They hold back the soil by spraying concrete on the banks, but sometimes landslides do happen... Alex, and a waterfall Later, we wander down to check out the riverside food We clamber onto a boat headed for... ... an awesome floating restaurant! We get the best seats in the house Sibyl's dad checks out the elaborate murals in Jumbo Hong Kong at night is impressively lit, and poorly captured by a cameraphone One building does my head in... the one that looks 2D due to the angular lighting bars The engine room of the ship, aarrrrr, full speed ahead matey! This was the BEST DESSERT EVER, in the 'Mango House' A misty view of the city as we head into the mainland away from the island At the morning dim-sim, these shrimp didnt look too happy (I wonder why!) But the tropical fish were pretty blase about their imminent cooking experience We visit a Buddist temple Inside, it is very similar to a Hindu temple A collection of effigies, very nicely carved These circular wooden things in the roof are incense tubes, constantly burning
